After becoming the European Challenge Cup Champion in the 2008-2009 season, Arkas Sport has a goal of maintaining this success by transferring strong players for the upcoming season.

After transferring the Spanish National Team Captain Enrique de la Fuente from Galatasaray and renewing its contract with Canadian player Paul Duerden for the fourth year, Arkas Sports then made an agreement with Puerto Rican Hector Soto, the best-scoring player in the last two world cups.

On Thursday, September 17th, a signing ceremony was held for the three star players with Arkas Sports Club Vice President Bernard Arcas in attendance. During the ceremony, Arcas stated that while carrying out transfers for the new season, they had kept the same basic structure of the team. Bernard Arcas said that he had full confidence that team would succeed, and pointed out that after winning two out of three cups last year, they have a goal of winning the league championship by increasing their performance to three out of three.

De La Fuente and his new teammate Soto, said, “Arkas Sports is a very young and very professional club that is known around the world after winning the championship in the European Challenge Cup. The team consists of top players that will be championship winners in Turkey and in Europe. We will do our absolute best to have a successful season.”

This will be the fourth season for Duerden, who said that he was very happy to sign on for another year with Arkas Sports. He added that the team was becoming stronger with the addition of the new players and that they will compete hard to win the cup in every category.
