Turkish Men's Volleyball 1st League Champion: Arkas Sports

Arkas Sports swept the Men's Volleyball 1st League to become the first team in the 35-year history of the league to bring the cup to Izmir.

Arkas Sports has had its sights set on the championship since the beginning of the season and has advanced with confidence and the loyal support of its fans to finally achieve its goal in the four final matches played in Marmaris. Although Arkas Sports is only five years old, it defeated the powerful, long-established teams in the league to win the cup for Izmir for the first time in the league's history. Fans in Izmir were very proud when the Arkas Sports players received the cup from Kenan Evren, the 7th Turkish President.

Lucien Arkas, Arkas Sports Club President, said, "We have always expressed our support for our team. We finished last season in 3rd place. This year we set an important goal and realized it. We have now set even higher goals. We are raising the bar a little higher every year. Our goal is success in Europe."

Arkas Sports Club's mission is to make a contribution to the development of Turkish sports and to help raise up the next generation of healthy sports enthusiasts, people that will be good examples for society. Arkas Sports' goal is to build a strong base of players by discovering young talent in Izmir and in Turkey, train players so that they can play for Turkish National Teams at the highest level and to revive the love of volleyball, which has begun to decline.
